Top Ten Tuesday | Purple/Gold/Green Book Covers

It’s Mardi Gras season, which means it’s time for King Cake! I had so much fun looking up these purple, yellow, and green covers! And, I can honestly say that I have not read any of these books, but at some point in time each of them piqued my interest. Each color has its own meaning, and in doing some research on the meaning of the colors I found that the meanings of the Mardi Gras colors aren’t set in stone. One color, in this case I’ll use green as the example, could represent faith. It could also represent friendship. In this case, I’m going with the friendship meaning, but I look forward to your interpretations of the colors!

Calamity
The Reckoners #3
Brandon Sanderson

Legacy of Kings
Blood of Gods and Royals #1
Eleanor Herman

The Diviners
The Diviners #1
Libba Bray

In relation to Mardi Gras, purple symbolizes justice. I haven’t read any of these books, but just from their descriptions I’d say that that theme runs through each of these books for different reasons.

Firefight
The Reckoners #2
Brandon Sanderson

Kingdom of Ash
Throne of Glass #7
Sarah J. Maas

King of Scars
King of Scars #1
Leigh Bardugo

Undone
Outcast Season #1
Rachel Caine

Gold symbolizes power. And the women on these covers give me all the powerful vibes. Celeana is ready for battle! And, the model for Undone definitely looks like she knows what’s up but doesn’t care. I also absolutely love the King of Scars cover and I can’t wait to sink into that one. Honestly, I’m super excited for all of these, lol.

The Duke and I
Julia Quinn

Voyager
Outlander #3
Diana Gabaldon

Elantris
Brandon Sanderson

Green symbolizes friendship. For the sake of not spoiling anyone, I’ll just say that I’m sure that the characters in these novels need a little bit of that in their predicaments. Especially Jamie and Claire. They tend to go through a lot.

Anyway, those are my picks for books with Mardi Gras colors on their covers! Have you read any of them? Want to read them? Do you want a piece of King Cake as much as I do right now? Feel free to leave your comments and your links below!

Top 10 Tuesday was created by  The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
